Overview
Canada's protections are divided between the public sector, the provinces and securities regulators.
Federal public sector
The Public Servants Disclosure Protection Act (PSDPA) protects federal public servants who disclose wrongdoing and creates the Office of the Public Sector Integrity Commissioner.
Securities regulators
- The Ontario Securities Commission operates an award-based whistleblower programme.
- The Autorité des marchés financiers in Quebec runs a no-award but strongly protective programme.
Provincial and private sector
Private-sector coverage is uneven and depends on provincial employment and occupational health and safety statutes.
