Speak Up Ghana: Rights, Protections & Reporting Misconduct

Speak Up Ghana: Rights, Protections & Reporting Misconduct

A foundational compliance course for all staff in Ghana, covering the Whistleblower Act, 2006 (Act 720), employee rights, available reporting channels, and how to raise concerns about misconduct safely and confidently.

Wrongdoing in the workplace — whether fraud, corruption, safety breaches, or abuse of power — thrives in silence. This course, Speak Up Ghana: Rights, Protections & Reporting Misconduct, equips every member of staff with the knowledge and confidence to identify misconduct, understand their legal rights, and report concerns through appropriate channels without fear of retaliation. It is grounded in Ghana's primary whistleblowing legislation, the Whistleblower Act, 2006 (Act 720), and reflects the obligations of both employees and organisations operating in Ghana.

Designed as the all-staff course in a two-course set for Ghanaian organisations, this programme explains in clear, practical terms what constitutes an impropriety, who qualifies as a whistleblower, what protections the law provides, and how internal and external reporting mechanisms work. Learners will also explore the role of key regulatory and oversight bodies, including the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and the Office of the Attorney-General, in safeguarding those who come forward.

By the end of this course, you will be able to recognise conduct that should be reported, understand the protections available to you under Act 720, use your organisation's speak-up channels with confidence, and know where to turn if those internal channels fail. Speaking up is not just a right — in many circumstances it is a civic and professional responsibility, and this course will help you fulfil it safely.
