Operating Austrian HSG Internal Channels & Legal Protocols

Operating Austrian HSG Internal Channels & Legal Protocols

A specialist course for managers and compliance teams on establishing, operating and maintaining internal whistleblowing channels in accordance with Austria's HinweisgeberInnenschutzgesetz (HSG), covering legal obligations, case-handling protocols and best-practice governance.

This course is the second in a two-part Austrian whistleblowing series designed specifically for managers and compliance professionals. Where the first course introduces all staff to their rights and protections under the HinweisgeberInnenschutzgesetz (HSG), this programme dives deep into the operational, legal and governance responsibilities that fall on those who design, oversee and administer internal reporting channels. Participants will gain a thorough understanding of Austria's transposition of EU Directive 2019/1937 and the specific obligations the HSG places on organisations with 50 or more employees.

Throughout the course, learners will work through the end-to-end lifecycle of an internal report: from channel design and confidentiality architecture, through intake, triage and investigation management, to outcome documentation and anti-retaliation safeguards. Each module is grounded in the text of the HSG, the role of the relevant Austrian supervisory authorities, and the procedural standards organisations must meet to remain compliant and to protect both reporters and the organisation itself.

On completion, managers and compliance team members will be equipped to audit existing channel arrangements against HSG requirements, handle incoming reports with procedural rigour, apply proportionate investigative techniques, and embed a speak-up culture that fulfils both legal duty and ethical ambition. Continuing professional development credits may apply; please check with your organisation's learning and development team.
