Managing Ghanaian Whistleblower Channels & Reward Frameworks

Managing Ghanaian Whistleblower Channels & Reward Frameworks

A professional course for managers and compliance teams on establishing, operating, and overseeing whistleblower channels in Ghana, with detailed coverage of the Whistleblower Act, 2006 (Act 720), reward frameworks, investigative obligations, and regulatory expectations.

This course is designed for managers and compliance professionals operating within Ghanaian organisations who bear direct responsibility for receiving, managing, and responding to whistleblower disclosures. Drawing on the Whistleblower Act, 2006 (Act 720) and the broader Ghanaian regulatory landscape, the course equips participants with the knowledge and practical tools needed to design effective reporting channels, protect disclosers from retaliation, administer reward entitlements correctly, and maintain the institutional integrity that underpins a healthy speak-up culture.

As the second course in a two-course set for Ghana — the first being an all-staff awareness programme — this course goes beyond foundational awareness to address the procedural, legal, and governance responsibilities that fall specifically on those who receive and act upon disclosures. Topics include the statutory criteria that trigger protection and reward entitlement under Act 720, the roles of relevant regulators such as the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), triage and investigation principles, and the obligations owed to both disclosers and accused persons throughout the process.

Participants will leave with a clear understanding of their legal obligations, practical frameworks for running compliant investigations, and guidance on embedding whistleblower governance into their organisation's compliance programme. Assessment questions at the conclusion of the course test comprehension across all modules and support professional development records.
