Dutch Workplace Integrity: Knowing When and How to Speak Up
This course equips all staff in the Netherlands with the knowledge to identify workplace misconduct, understand their rights and protections under the Dutch Whistleblowers Protection Act (Wet bescherming klokkenluiders), and confidently report concerns through the correct channels.
Workplace integrity is the foundation of a healthy, trustworthy organisation. In the Netherlands, the law recognises that employees who speak up about wrongdoing play a vital role in protecting public interests, organisational reputation, and the wellbeing of colleagues. This course is designed to give all staff — regardless of role or seniority — a clear, practical understanding of what it means to be a whistleblower, when reporting is appropriate, and how to do so safely and effectively.
This course is grounded in the Dutch Whistleblowers Protection Act (Wet bescherming klokkenluiders), which came into force on 18 February 2023 and implemented the EU Whistleblowing Directive (2019/1937) into Dutch law. The Act significantly strengthened protections for reporters of suspected wrongdoing and placed new obligations on employers with 50 or more workers. By completing this course, you will understand your rights, your employer's obligations, and the role of the House for Whistleblowers (Huis voor Klokkenluiders) as the designated national authority.
This is the all-staff course in a two-course set for Netherlands-based organisations. It covers foundational concepts and practical guidance for every employee. A separate course addresses the responsibilities of managers, HR professionals, and compliance officers who receive, assess, and manage reported concerns. Together, both courses support a culture where speaking up is seen not as a risk, but as a professional and ethical responsibility.
